Thanks to voter-approved funding from Measures CC and Measure WW, the East Bay Regional Park District has embarked on a plan to improve habitat, access, and trail conditions along the Albany shoreline at McLaughlin Eastshore State Park.
On Thursday, October 26, 2017 the East Bay Regional Park District will hold the first of three public meetings to discuss Measure CC accomplishments and gather community input regarding future goals and priorities in the Measure CC area.
The project to pump 82,600 cubic yards of sand from offshore barges onto Crown Memorial State Beach and Alameda Beach will continue on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., as of October 26, in addition to weekdays.
The Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail, a 7.65-mile linear park, parallels St. Mary's Road through Lafayette and Moraga. It is intended for hiking, bicycling, and equestrian use.
With additional funding approved July 2, 2013, by the East Bay Regional Park District Board, 82,600 cubic yards of sand will be pumped onto Crown Memorial State Beach and Alameda Beach between September and November 2013.
Hulet enjoyed a distinguished career as Chief of Land Acquisition of the East Bay Regional Park District from 1965 through 1985, serving legendary leaders William Penn Mott and Richard Trudeau.

Robert E. Doyle is a 43+ year veteran of the parks and natural resources field who served as General Manager of the East Bay Regional Park District from 2010 to 2020. A co-chair of the California State Park Partners, he was a key advocate for advancing the successful Proposition 68, the Parks, Environment, and Water Bond to the June 2018 ballot and serves as vice-chair of the Clean Water, Natural Resources and Parks committee.
The $4.65 million FEMA grant will pay for the East Bay Regional Park District, City of Oakland and UC Berkeley to thin trees (mostly eucalyptus) and brush from about 800 acres of ridgeline in the East Bay Hills.
