Many people use our parklands and trails safely every day. Make your journey safer by following each of these tips.
Healthy Parks Healthy People (HPHP) is a worldwide campaign to encourage healthy active fun in the outdoors while appreciating and taking care of our parks and open space areas. Through the HPHP/Park Rx program, the Park District is working to support health and wellness among the underserved communities by offering special programs to introduce their members to our parklands.
The District long-range goal is to preserve and enhance the Serpentine Prairie so that future generations of East Bay residents can enjoy this Northern California treasure as a place to volunteer, study native plants or just enjoy the visual artist palette from the spring wildflowers. Future management strategies will include targeted grazing and timed mowing to reduce specific species and continued monitoring to document the results of our management.
In compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), this Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) describes the potential environmental consequences that may result from implementation of the East Bay Regional Park District's (EBRPD's) Draft Wildfire Hazard Reduction and Resource Management Plan (Plan).
Measure WW was approved by voters in Alameda and Contra Costa counties in November 2008. The measure extended Measure AA, approved in 1988, to enable the Park District to meet the increasing demand of protecting open space for recreation and wildlife habitat. It also made funding available directly to cities and special park districts for high priority community park projects.
The Wildfire Hazard Reduction and Resource Management Plan (Plan) provides sound, long-term strategies for reducing fuel loads and managing vegetation within the Park District's Study Area parks. The plan seeks to minimize the risk of Diablo wind-driven catastrophic wildfire along the wildland-urban interface while ensuring the protection and enhancement of ecological values and resources within our jurisdiction.
