On October 31, a Contra Costa County jury found defendant Vinicio Santos of Antioch guilty of three misdemeanors, including animal cruelty. On December 1, 2017, Santos’ dog attacked the three calves owned by grazer Paul Daysh. The brutal attack left the three calves permanently injured.
On June 5, 2018, the East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors voted unanimously to place an extension measure on the November 2018 ballot to continue local, voter-approved funding in western Alameda and Contra Costa counties – with no increase in taxes.
Voters in western Alameda and Contra Costa counties overwhelmingly passed Measure FF Tuesday night with 84.2% of the vote. Measure FF needed 66.6% to pass.
Over the past years, the Park District’s environmental stewardship staff has been assisting with efforts to preserve nesting peregrine falcons at UC Berkeley’s Campanile balcony. In 2017 two peregrine falcons were observed nesting on the Campanile high in the air above the UC Berkeley campus.
Measure FF passed by voters.

Richmond, CA. – The East Bay Regional Park District received an award from the California Park & Recreation Society for its Dotson Family Marsh Restoration and Public Access Project.
The East Bay Regional Park District has temporally reopened the Rifle Range Road Trail Access Point at Wildcat Canyon Regional Park.
