Regional Parks Measure FF Passed by Voters

Voters in western Alameda and Contra Costa counties overwhelmingly passed Measure FF Tuesday night with 84.2% of the vote. Measure FF needed 66.6% to pass.

“The Park District thanks voters for approval of Measure FF and appreciates the thousands of residents in the community who participated in the election,” said East Bay Regional Park District General Manager Robert Doyle. “Measure FF will provide essential funding for wildfire protection and public safety, improving public access, and restoring natural habitat.”

Measure FF provides funding for regional park services in western Alameda and Contra Costa counties, including wildfire protection, public safety, public access, trails, visitor use facilities, and the restoration of natural habitat, urban creeks, and shorelines. Wildfire protection is the top spending priority of Measure FF.

Voter-approved funding currently supports thinning or removing hazardous vegetation on over 500 acres annually. Measure FF will continue this funding for fire hazard reduction, as well as for firefighters, and sustainable forest management.

Measure FF was on the ballot in the communities of Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Emeryville, Kensington, Oakland, Piedmont, Richmond, and San Pablo.

Measure FF is a $1/month ($12/year) parcel tax extension measure that does not change or increase existing tax rates. Measure FF is an extension of Measure CC, which was passed by voters in 2004.
