Red Flag Warning Isssued

September 9, 2021

(Updated August 8, 2024)

A Red Flag Warning has been issued covering the East Bay hills and valleys and Diablo Range from 5:00 PM Thursday, September 9, to 11:00 AM Friday, September 10, due to chance for dry thunderstorms and lightning, gusty outflow winds, and increased risk of new wildfire starts and rapid spread. Follow all posted fire rules, be aware of park restrictions, and immediately report any fire danger (EMERGENCIES: 9-1-1 / NON-EMERGENCY: 510-881-1833).

RED FLAG FIRE SAFETY RULES INCLUDE:

  • NO open fires of any kind are allowed. ONLY gas-fueled stoves/barbecues are permitted.
  • NO Smoking in Regional Parks, including vaping devices.
  • NO gas-powered generators.
  • DO NOT drive or park your vehicle on dry grass areas. The heat from a vehicle’s undercarriage exhaust system can ignite fires. Low-hanging chains that drag and create sparks can do the same.

POTENTIAL PARK CLOSURES:
In extremely dry and windy weather, access to Regional Parks may be restricted, activities may be curtailed, or parks may be closed entirely, by order of the Park District’s Fire Chief to ensure public safety.
