East Bay Regional Park District Hires Allison Brooks as Assistant General Manager of External Affairs

April 15, 2025

East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) General Manager Sabrina Landreth announced today her hiring of Allison Brooks as Assistant General Manager of External Affairs. Brooks joins EBRPD from the Bay Area Regional Collaborative where she served over 11 years as Executive Director.

"We are thrilled to welcome Allison Brooks to the East Bay Regional Park District to lead a newly merged division of External Affairs,” said EBRPD General Manager Sabrina Landreth. “Her experience as an executive leader dedicated to improving how public agencies use land in ways that enhance quality of life, promote sustainability, and support vibrant communities will be a tremendous asset as we work together to protect and enhance our Regional Parks for future generations."

Brooks’ exemplary career in land use has been at the intersection of community and economic development, transportation, parks, open space, and working lands. This includes work on a community-based agroforestry project as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana. From there, her resume includes supporting district park planning in San Francisco, advancing equitable transit-oriented development in the Bay Area and regions across the U.S., and fostering collaborative problem solving among regional and state agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area to address climate change impacts. Brooks enjoys building teams and partnerships and supporting organizational development to tackle big challenges and deploying creative communication and outreach strategies to get people involved.

Brooks has worked closely with East Bay communities since the early 2000s when she led the Livable Communities Initiative at the East Bay Community Foundation where she co-founded a national model of non-profit, philanthropic, and public sector partnership called the Great Communities Collaborative to support sustainable and equitable development.

Brooks earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego, and a Masters in Sustainable International Development from the Heller Graduate School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.

She is a long-time East Bay resident and an avid user of East Bay Regional Parks.

"I’m honored and excited to join the Office of External Affairs at such a pivotal time in the East Bay Regional Park District’s history,” said Allison Brooks. “As the Park District looks ahead to its next hundred years of service to Alameda and Contra Costa counties, I’m inspired by the opportunity to help shape a future that builds on its legacy of environmental stewardship, community engagement, and equitable access to nature. I look forward to working with partners, stakeholders, and the incredible team here to ensure our parks continue to thrive for generations to come."

Brooks starts on May 7, 2025.
