Park District Marks 2021 World Peace Day with Unveiling of Peace Pole at Lake Chabot
Public Celebration Includes Peace Messages, Music, Arts and Crafts
Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Join the East Bay Regional Park District and Regional Parks Foundation along with community partners Eden Area Interfaith Council, Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center and UNA/USA East Bay Chapter for a day of peaceful messages and music followed by the unveiling of 12-foot Peace Pole adorned with the word “Peace” written in multiple languages.
The International Day of Peace was established in1981 by the United Nations General Assembly; the world is exhorted to observe 24 hours of nonviolence and ceasefire; and to celebrate peace by spreading compassion, kindness, and hope. The 250,000+ Peace Poles planted worldwide express the hopes and dreams of the entire human family for peace on earth.
Following the speaking program and music, the celebration continues with a light lunch and a guided walk by Board Director Dennis Waespi. Registration is requested to attend. RSVP and More Info.
