Park District Board to Discuss Wildlife Management Policy at June 15 Board Meeting
June 11, 2021
On February 25, 2021, the Park District’s Board of Directors Natural & Cultural Resources Committee discussed updating the District’s Free-Roaming Cat Management Policy and recommend that the policy update recommended by staff be considered by the full Board of Directors.
The Park District cares about the well-being of all wildlife, including cats that are abandoned in parks. However, abandoned cats are a significant threat to endangered species in Regional Parks and, unfortunately, become prey for exiting wildlife. Abandonment in parks does not provide a safe or enjoyable life for a domestic animal.
The full Board of Directors will be discussing the updated Free-Roaming Cat Management Policy at their June 15 meeting.
