The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. Never has our world needed peace more.
The California State Riding and Hiking Trail was first envisioned in 1945, but has not yet been completed. The Contra Costa County segment of the trail was a pilot project of the program, and the level of completion it has attained has been due in part to strong public interest in the East Bay.

The 2022 LHMP Update was finalized in late 2022 with input from the Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee, agency stakeholders, and the public. The California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and FEMA reviewed and approved the LHMP Update in early 2023.
