Park Happenings for September
Activities abound in the East Bay Regional Park District in September. From nature programs to special events, festivals, and free movie nights, there is plenty of fun for everyone in the Regional Parks this month.

California Biodiversity Week: Sept. 7-15. Celebrate California Biodiversity Day with a week of activities at locations across the Park District. Make discoveries about nature in the Regional Parks all week long! The District's Biodiversity Week guided programs will include bioblitzes, nature and culture walks, activities, and more. Free Movie Nights in Regional Parks. Enjoy a special fall evening outdoors with family and friends at a free movie in the Regional Parks. Movies begin shortly after sunset. Arrive early to secure a good seat on the lawn. Bring a flashlight, warm clothes, and a blanket or chairs for sitting. No pets. Rain cancels.

Hispanic Heritage Month: Sept. 15-Oct. 15. Celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries during Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 as we share stories and contributions from both Hispanic and Latino Americans. Check out special programs honoring Hispanic Heritage Month.
Bilingual Mine Tours, Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve in Antioch
Black Diamond Mines is offering bilingual mine tours (Spanish and English/ingles y español) on select dates in September and October. Tour fees apply, and registration in advance is highly recommended.
Arte en el Parque, Del Valle Regional Park in Livermore
Create works of art taking inspiration from artists like Frida Kahlo and Octavio Ocampo. Learn how these artists depicted nature and landscapes in their artwork. Drop-in; no registration required.

Coastal Cleanup Day: Saturday, Sept. 21. Help clean and preserve East Bay shorelines and waterways during the 40th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon. The Park District has selected seven parks for cleanup, including bayside beaches, shoreline trails, and inland lakes. Staff and volunteers will work together to collect and dispose of litter and recyclables, beautify the shorelines, and help maintain delicate ecosystems.

International Day of Peace Event at Lake Chabot, Friday, Sept. 27. Enjoy an evening of activities, music, and community at the Park District's annual Day of Peace event at Lake Chabot in Castro Valley. East Bay Regional Parks provide spaces that promote physical, mental, and spiritual wellness and wellbeing. Bring family and friends to experience this year's event with the theme “Finding Peace Within.”

Redwood Reveal: The Past 90 Years, Saturday, Sept. 28. Celebrate the Park District's 90th Anniversary at "Redwood Reveal: The Past 90 Years" at historic Redwood Bowl in Roberts Regional Recreation Area in the Oakland hills. Walk among the coastal redwoods and enjoy a special 90th anniversary presentation at 11 a.m. Family-friendly activities will include:
• Live Caribbean music by Asheba
• Free face painting by the Bay Area Face Painters
• Crafts and games for the whole family
• New Historical Exhibit
