Park District Seeks Volunteers for Day of Service at Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline

The East Bay Regional Park District invites the community to a morning of hands-on engagement at Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline in Oakland.

Each year, in celebration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the District hosts a volunteer work day annually at the park named in his honor. Volunteers will restore the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Grove and nearby Damon Marsh by removing litter and invasive plants.

Volunteers are asked to register online in advance. Children are welcome to participate, but a chaperone must accompany every 20 kids under the age of 16. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes and closed-toe shoes are recommended.

Also, to cut down on the use of plastic, please bring a refillable water bottle and a bucket to pick up litter. Gloves are provided.

Groups of family or friends are encouraged! One person may register for a group of up to 100 people online or by calling EBRPD reservations at 1 (888) 327-2757, option 2.

The event will be canceled if there is heavy rain.

The East Bay Regional Park District is a system of beautiful public parks and trails in Alameda and Contra Costa counties east of San Francisco Bay, established in 1934. The system comprises 121,000 acres in 73 parks including over1,250 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and nature learning.
