Park District Remembers Director Ellen Corbett
Memorial Scheduled for Sept 21
The Park District celebrated the public service legacy of Director Ellen Corbett at the Sept. 3 Board of Directors meeting with a special presentation and tribute. Director Corbett had a 34-year career in public service. Video
Director Corbett spent eight years on the Park District’s board, where she was an incredible champion of the District’s mission and a tireless advocate for communities to have access to open space, public parks, and nature. Her long, decorated, and consequential public service career in local and state government included serving as the majority leader of the California State Senate and as the mayor of San Leandro. Director Corbett’s legacy of public service and stewardship will continue to inspire us all.
Memorial Service:
The family has informed the Park District that a memorial service for Director Corbett has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Parish (1100 Fulton Ave San Leandro), with a reception after at Harry’s Hofbrau (14900 East 14th Street, San Leandro). The service and reception are open to the public.
