East Bay Regional Park District Assistant General Manager for Operations Lisa Goorjian Selected to Serve on NACPRO Board of Directors
East Bay Regional Park District Assistant General Manager of Operations Lisa Goorjian has been appointed to the National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials (NACPRO) Board of Directors. NACPRO is a non-profit professional organization that advances official policies that promote county and regional park recreation and conservation issues. NACPRO is an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
“I am honored by this prestigious appointment and thrilled to continue to represent East Bay Regional Park District’s perspectives and interests,” said Park District Assistant General Manager of Operations Lisa Goorjian. “NACPRO is an important association that allows park officials to discuss the challenges and successes in managing parklands, and share innovations and best practices for dealing with them.”
NACPRO represents 279 professional and retiree members, 128 agencies across 35 states, and 29 NRPA Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) accredited agencies. NACPRO’s greatest strength is its peer network, which creates opportunities to exchange ideas and enhance professional development. Members are kept informed with curated news, research, technical reports, training opportunities, and job openings.
NACPRO also manages an annual awards program that honors excellence in parks and recreation at the county and regional levels throughout the nation.
“Common challenges facing park managers at the local and regional level, include stable funding, increased visitor demands and traffic control, and climate change impacts,” said Goorjian. “NACPRO is a collective of likeminded park managers discussing solutions that are being used across the country that may be applied locally.”
Lisa Goorjian has over 25 years of public sector experience, exclusively in parks and recreation. She has worked for city, county, and state park agencies and two special park districts. She is a registered landscape architect in California and Oregon and possesses significant expertise in park and trail design and construction, operations, programming, stewardship, and land acquisition. She is also a graduate of the NRPA Directors School with Honors.
NACPRO Board members meet monthly to participate in committees to evaluate and select annual award recipients, develop the legislative agenda, create the annual meeting program, and serve as liaisons to NRPA, CAPRA and NACo).
