We hold eight Multicultural Wellness Walks annually in our parklands. Each walk brings 50 to 60 participants, ages 5 to 80, and includes a diversity of ethnicity, race, gender, religious traditions, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. To date, we've walked with over 5,000 participants. We encourage participants to walk together in their neighborhood / regional parks for a healthy lifestyle.
Multicultural Wellness Walk
Our final 2023 Multicultural Wellness Walk was held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Briones Regional Park, Martinez.
Check back for 2024 events in the spring.
At 6,255 acres, Briones is one the largest regional parks in our Park District. It is home to many varieties of animals and birds, which forage on the grasslands or find shelter among the abundant oaks and bays.
The 2.5 mile route for the Dia de Los Muertos Wellness Walk will be easy and relaxing - on a broad and accessible trail. Along the way, we will be learning about the natural resources from Naturalist Anthony Fisher and having some Zumba fun led by Nannette Vides from WorkoutTemps.
After the walk, enjoy some indigenous games led by Anthony and share memories/stories of our loved ones. Bring an item/memento to honor them.
At the Walk:
- Free parking
- Light lunch provided.
Bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Plenty of water (bring your own bottle!)
- Light jacket as temperatures may vary
- Face mask as desired
We love dogs; however, please kindly leave your dog at home.
