The East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) grants research permits for academic or educational purposes associated with a college, university, or non-profit entity to observe and examine natural resources on EBRPD lands.
Permits are provided on a one-, three-, or five-year basis. Research reports must be submitted in compliance with permit guidelines upon expiration of the permit. It may take up to 10 weeks for processing and technical review of Research Permit applications.
- To apply, email the following to researchpermits@ebparks.org:
- Completed application with detailed proposal/scope. Scope can be separately attached and referenced if additional space is needed.
- Provide coordinates and/or a map denoting the location of the research, if possible. This can speed up the review process.
- Signed research conditions/policy.
- Scientific Collection Permit, if research requires.
- Copy of your driver’s license and insurance if requesting driving access within parks.
Note: If collecting, a high visibility vest is required.
