Stargazing in Sunol

*** Due to predicted weather conditions, the program will pivot to night exploration walk. No night sky viewing will be available ***

*Participants must arrive before 6:15pm before gate closure.

There is no parking on Geary Rd.

Wear warm layers.

There is no cell service in the park.

Adult participation required

This program is in partnership with the Tri-Valley Stargazers.

All ages and skill levels welcome.

Be mindful of preserving night vision by turning off vehicle headlights in the parking lot meeting area and using red flashlights.

Meeting Location: Horse Trailer Parking Lot.

Directions to meeting location: Go through the park kiosk, continue straight past Sunol Visitor Center and parking lot will be on the right.

Organized groups such as homeschool and scouts must apply for programs through the EBRPD or Tri-Valley Stargazers websites.

**There is no service/Wi-Fi in the park.

From Fremont, drive north on I-680 and exit at Calaveras Road (near the town of Sunol.)

Turn right at the exit onto Calaveras Road and proceed about four miles to a left turn onto Geary Road, which leads directly into the park.

(If you find yourself driving uphill on a narrow winding road you’ve missed the Geary Road turnoff.)

To reach the meeting location: Go through the park kiosk, continue straight past Sunol Visitor Center and parking lot will be on the right.

From the Oakland-Berkeley area, drive east on I-580 to the junction with I-680. Take I-680 south and exit at Calaveras Road/Highway 84 just south of the Sunol exit.

At the bottom of the exit, turn left onto Calaveras Road and proceed as noted above.
