The Outdoor Recreation Department, based out of the Tidewater Boating Center in East Oakland, provides a rich variety of outdoor programs throughout the Park District for youth, families, adults, and community partners.

A mid-Century waterfront venue with views of the San Leandro Bay and East Bay Hills located at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline. Currently closed until further notice due to construction.
Located in the Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area, the swimming beach has a bathhouse and refreshment stand, open on weekends in spring and fall, and daily during summer months. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months, but swimming is allowed throughout the year in the designated area, at the swimmer's own risk.
At Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach, the water is warm and shallow. At the west end of the beach is a bathhouse with changing rooms. Swimming is permitted during park hours year round.
Del Valle Regional Park offers two swimming beaches with lifeguards on duty during posted periods. Year-round swimming is allowed without lifeguard service north of the boat ramp.
22400 Woodroe Ave, Hayward, CA 94541 | (510) 544-3073 | Located in Don Castro Regional Recreation Area, swimming in the chlorinated swim lagoon is a main attraction from the end of May through September. There is a bathhouse with shower, vending machines, a sandy beach and large lawn areas. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty.
1200 Frederickson Lane, Antioch, CA 94509 | (888) 327-2757 option 3, ext. 4518 | Located in Contra Loma Regional Park, the lake's chlorinated swim lagoon has a sandy beach with restrooms, a concession stand, and an accessible lift into the swim lagoon. A beach wheelchair is available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Shady picnic areas on a green lawn are accessible to people with disabilities.
The Park District and Regional Parks Foundation are committed to giving educators the knowledge and skills to use parks and other outdoor environments as extended opportunities for student exploration and study.
