Prescribed Burn Program Scheduled For
Round Valley Regional Preserve
postponed

The East Bay Regional Park District Fire Department has postponed a planned prescribed burn at Round Valley Regional Preserve due to adverse weather conditions and resource availability. A prescribed burn did take place on Tuesday, June 17, and burns of the remaining planned acreage may take place at a future date when weather conditions and resource availability are suitable. The preserve is located north of Livermore and East of Brentwood on Marsh Creek Road. The primary purpose of the burn is as a resource management tool to control yellow starthistle, an invasive plant that damages the natural environment. Prescribed burns also decrease fuel load, which reduces the risk of wildland fire.
