East Bay Regional Parks District: Embrace Life!

Fall Foliage in the Regional Parks

Fall Foliage in the Regional Parks
It's a great time to enjoy the fall foliage in your regional parks.
The Regional Parks Botanic Garden in Tilden Regional Park is one place to look for colorful leaves.
Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont has lovely leaves as well.
Look for deciduous trees along ridgetops and creeks.
Here are some additional suggestions from our field staff on where to find fall displays.
  • Diablo Foothills
  • Black Diamond
  • Morgan Territory
  • Redwood - along the Stream Trail from Canyon Meadow to Old Church. Look for American Elms and Creek Willows turning gold, and non-native Chinese Pistachios in bright bloom.
  • Pleasanton Ridge - Look for black oaks, sycamores and maples. From the top of the ridge looking west to Sunol Ridge is a good vantage point.
Las Trampas: The eastside of Trampas Ridge will have a very colorful display this time of the year.
  • Sunol: A drive up Welsh Creek road (in Sunol) is always beautiful during fall, if one doesn't have much time. But, if time permits, the sycamores above Little Yosemite, on Alameda creek, during late fall in the afternoon sunlight shouldn't be missed.
